Malaga tops Easter city break destinations poll

Posted on: 19 April 2011

Brits heading abroad this Easter to soak up some sun are most likely to choose Spain, with Malaga topping a recent survey of bank holiday destinations.

With an extra day off work, it's hardly surprising that many are using this time for an early summer holiday, and the easyJet survey found that Madrid was also a very popular destination, coming in second place.

The third most popular city was found to be the French capital of Paris, a regular city break favourite for shopaholics, while Faro in Portugal and the Dutch capital of Amsterdam completed the top five.

Paul Simmons, director of easyJet UK, said: "It's no surprise that Malaga is the most popular destination for British travellers during this period. It seems that savvy Brits are keen to head abroad for guaranteed sunshine and a change of scenery."

Brits looking to book last-minute flights to Malaga can depart from London with a range of airlines, including British Airways, easyJet and Aer Lingus.
