Internet access available on US Airways flights

US Airways has boosted its offering to passengers this week with the launch of an inflight internet service.

The technology was made available on five of the carrier's Airbus A321 aircraft on March 29th and will be fully rolled out across all 51 A321s in the airline's fleet by June 1st.

Owners of laptops and Wi-Fi-enabled devices will be able to use the Gogo service to enjoy online entertainment, email friends, log in to corporate networks or surf the internet during flights.

Web access will be available when the plane reaches an altitude of 10,000 feet, at which time passengers can create their profile and pay for their session by credit card.

Andrew Nocella, US Airways' senior vice-president of marketing and planning, said: "Gogo fits in perfectly with our business model by offering more choices in flight.

"Our customers are able to be more productive with their time and have new ways to stay entertained in the air."

The airline operates an extensive international network that includes flights to Dallas and Charlotte from the UK.
