Posted on: 25 February 2010

Travellers planning to take flights to Toronto for a city break over the coming months will be able to see an exhibition that has been a major success.

King Tut: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs is currently showing at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) and will remain open until April 18th.

Some 250,000 tickets have been sold for the show, highlighting its popularity among locals and visitors taking city breaks in Toronto.

Matthew Teitelbaum, chief executive of the gallery, said: "The exhibition is drawing thousands of new visitors to the AGO.

"Our exit surveys indicate that over 70 per cent of visitors to King Tut have never been to the new AGO. We're thrilled with this response and look forward to welcoming many more new faces in the coming weeks."

Visitors can see fascinating items in the display, including scans of Tutankhamun's mummified remains and artefacts from some of his direct ancestors.

Travellers can catch flights to Toronto with several carriers, including Air Canada and British Airways.
