Bucharest breaks get easier

City breaks to the Romanian city of Bucharest are easier to organise now another airline has announced it will start flights to the capital from London.

Once nicknamed Little Paris for its high life and large tree lined boulevards, Bucharest is now a quick Swiss Airlines flight away from London City Airport.

While the city still has its own Arch de Triomphe, which visitors can climb to the top of for a panoramic view of the city, it has also modernised to offer visitors the latest in hotel accommodation.

The city's main pulling point is still its rich history, architecture an museums.

It's Parliament Palace, allegedly the world's second largest administrative building in the world, has 700,000 tonnes of steel and bronze in its doors, windows and chandeliers.

Dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, who built the palace, also lends a moment of poignant modern history to the Revolution Square where the Romanians gathered in 1989 to oust him.

The National Art Museum, Roman Athenaeum, Athenee Palace Hotel and Kretzulescu Church all border the famous square.
