Austrian 'ready for Euro 2008'

Posted on: 28 February 2008

Austrian Airlines has announced that it is almost entirely ready for Euro 2008, ahead of the expected boom in flights that is expected for the tournament.

The carrier revealed that the majority of its preparations for the event have been carried out more than 100 days before the competition is set to begin.

In the short- and medium-haul sector, Austrian Airlines will use substantially larger aircraft on its European routes.

On-board the operator's flights, passengers will be helped to get into the mood of the occasion, with on-board catering given a football theme and three Austrian planes redesigned to reflect Euro 2008.

Austrian Airlines flies to all destinations that will be hosting matches during the tournament with the exception of Berne.

The carrier will also create a close link between its hub in Vienna and Switzerland, with up to four daily connections between June 8th and 20th.

No British countries are involved in Euro 2008 but a large number of travellers from the UK are still expected to travel to the event.
