Airlines receive awards recognition

Some of the world's leading airlines have been honoured as part of the World Airline Awards from Skytrax.Qatar Airways was named the winner of three categories: Best First Class title, Best Cabin Staff (Middle East region) and Best Airline (Middle East region).
"It gives me great pride to receive these accolades, and credit goes to all our staff who are so dedicated to providing the very best service," said Qatar Airways' chief executive Mr Akbar Al-Baker.
Thai Airways won the distinction of Best First Class Lounge for its facilities at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport, while Virgin Atlantic was awarded Best Business Class Lounge.
It's Clubhouse at London Heathrow Airport was the subject of the honour. "Whether it's on the ground or in the air, our teams will never stop delivering the innovative products that all travellers should experience during their journeys," the airline's chief executive Steve Ridgway said, thanking voters.
Singapore Airlines was named Airline of the year, as well as taking the title for Best Business Class.
