The carrier has withdrawn its interest in purchasing Czech Airlines, those looking to book cheap flights to Paris may be interested to hear.

In a statement, Air France KLM commented that the recession had played a part in its decision.

It said that the current economic climate had "significantly impacted the airline business", and advised Czech Airlines to re-think its privatisation plans.

The statement added: "Under such circumstances, Air France-KLM believes that CSA might focus on developing and implementing a stand-alone recovery plan aimed at restoring its profitability."

However, it is thought that the Czech government will press on with its proposals to privatise the carrier.

Air France KLM, which was founded in 1933, runs flights to more than 150 destinations worldwide across 83 countries, including Berlin, Dublin, Rome, Sydney, London and Stockholm.
