Air Canada promises easier check-in

Posted on: 06 December 2011

Passengers who regularly book flights with Air Canada may be able to take advantage of a more convenient mobile check-in service, which can now be accessed from the airline's website 24 hours before departure, after which an electronic boarding pass will be sent to the handset.

Eligible customers will receive these via email or text message and they are used on both domestic services and international flights.

In particular, individuals who intend to travel during peak periods could benefit from this option, as the firm advises customers to arrive as early as possible to negate problems associated with congestion.

Apps are also available for BlackBerry and Apple users which are said to make passes simpler to access, in addition to providing flight information that can be tracked in real time and notifications of itinerary changes.

Air Canada is not the first carrier to make use of this technology, as Malev recently announced it will also make e-boarding passes available.
