Aer Lingus to launch flights to Cork from Gatwick

Posted on: 19 January 2010

Aer Lingus is set to launch flights from London Gatwick to Cork in the Republic of Ireland this year, a move that has been welcomed by managers at the Irish gateway.

Travellers will be able to choose from two daily services on the route, which is set to begin operating on March 6th.

Leisure travellers and corporate customers alike will welcome the new flights, said Kevin Cullinane, marketing manager at Cork airport.

He also described the service as "a huge boost" for the hub at the start of a new year.

Enda Corneille, corporate affairs director at Aer Lingus, said: "The new twice-daily service from Cork to Gatwick will give our customers more choice and greater flexibility and, furthermore, ease of access to the south-east of England.

"The new service will complement our four daily services between Cork and London Heathrow and will further strengthen business, leisure and connecting traffic between the south of Ireland and London."

Aer Lingus offers a number of other services from Gatwick, including flights to Dublin, Knock and Malaga.
