Small and friendly Copenhagen is widely regarded as one of Europe's most accessible and laid-back destinations for a city break.
The Danish are proud of their cultural traditions and this is reflected in the city's architecture, which is largely composed of colourful period buildings with comparatively few examples of modern architecture to break their rhythm.
Yet at the same time this is also a truly modern and stylish city, reflecting the largely liberal values of much of Scandinavia in its welcoming bars and cafes, trendy shops, and lively nightlife.
Copenhagen is easy to explore on foot during your city break and is packed with things to see, among them the enchanting Tivoli theme park which is particularly fine after dark and the fairytale castle Rosenborg Slot.
Copenhagen also boasts some great museums and galleries and Europe's longest pedestrianised shopping precinct, while wandering or cycling along one of its many waterways can also be a pleasant way to spend an afternoon.
Copenhagen also has no shortage of places to eat, from exclusive fine dining restaurants to traditional cafes and restaurants serving classic Danish treats such as frikadellen (meatballs) and open-faced smorrebrod sandwiches.

The hotel is located in the centre of Copenhagen within easy reach of Tivoli gardens and the main shopping area of Stroget.
Delightful, traditional bedrooms are individually styled, and offer very good facilities for the hotel`s standard. Footbaths in the rooms, complimentary bike hire and cards under beds stating 'Yes, we clean under here too' are just some examples of the high levels of personalised service and attention to detail guests will experience.
The hotel is a landmark hotel which enjoys a central location next Stroeget (Copenhagen's shopping street), the Royal theater and the Ferry and Hydrofoil terminals. Nyhavn and its numerous bars and restaurants is just across the roundabout at the front of the hotel.
All rooms are comfortable and well decorated incorporating all the facilities you would expect in a hotel of this stature. They are large in size and in exceptional condition and as are the bathrooms. The restaurant is decorated in a 'Ye Olden English' style, on theme with the rest of the hotel. Also available is a brasserie overlooking the nearby square and a nice bar area. Both are extremely popular and offer culinary delights along with outstanding service.
