City Break Bangkok

Bustling Bangkok is a rapidly growing city that is full of contrasts waiting to be discovered on your city break.

The city's modern landscape with its skyscrapers, busy tuk tuk (motorised rickshaw) services and heady nightlife is countered by a quieter side, with serene temples and street kitchens serving delicious Thai food to be found in unexpected places.

For a slice of traditional Bangkok, one of the most popular sites for visitors has to be the gorgeous Temple of the Emerald Buddha with its sumptuous decoration, while the National Museum has some great Thai artefacts.

Another popular attraction is the Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute – a snake farm where you can see snake milking and feeding, or if you're not quite feeling brave enough for snakes, head to the Damnoen Saduak floating market, noted for its colourful fresh fruit and vegetables.

Bangkok is also a prime shopping destination, with handicrafts, textiles and jewellery regarded as particularly good buys. There is no shortage of modern shopping malls and glamorous designer outlets either, while travellers usually head to the Khao San Road for some great shopping and nightlife.
