The
national airline of Thailand, Thai Airways operates regional,
domestic and international flights from its hub in Bangkok to
destinations around the world.
Thai Airways offers two
non-stop flights every day from London Heathrow to Bangkok, with
midday departures that are timed to connect with ongoing flights
throughout Thailand, or to destinations in South Korea, south-east
Asia, Australia, New Zealand, The Philippines, China and Japan.
Thai Airways was a founding member of the global Star Alliance,
along with other high quality airlines such as South African Airways
and United, meaning that it can offer its passengers an even wider
range of cheap airfares and flights to great destinations. The
extensive network offered by the alliance covers flights to major
destinations over six continents.
Members of the Thai
Airways Royal Orchid Plus loyalty scheme can also benefit from
the alliance and can collect airmiles from flights with the airline's
15 Star Alliance Partners.
The airline has many relatively
cheap airfares and special offers to great destinations, and for
the cheapest flights from Thai Airways, make sure you book your
ticket through Major Travel.
Founded in 1960 as a joint
venture between Thailand's domestic carrier Thai Airways Company
and Scandinavian carrier SAS, the airline holds the rare position
of having achieved profitability every year for the past 40 years.
Today, Thai Airways operates flights with a large fleet of 87
aeroplanes, and has just ordered 14 new aircraft to be delivered
before 2010. New A380 aircraft, which can carry 555 passengers,
will be entering service with Thai Airways later in the year.
Thai Airways has recently refurbished its 747-400 aeroplanes which
are operational on its daily flights to and from London, with
new 180 degree-recline seating fitted in first class areas. Four
seats have also been removed in first class, allowing passengers
even more room.
Passengers flying Thai Airways first
class can even enjoy comfort wear from Elle and Guy Laroche, as
well as an amenities kit from Hermes. First class menus include
caviar, lobster and Don Perignon '96 champagne, perfect for a
little bit of pampering during your flight.
The mid-range
Royal Silk Class also promises a high quality and comfortable
flight experience, with a seat pitch of 60 inches and a 167 degree
seat recline. A privacy screen, personal telephone and an Audio
Video on Demand (AVOD) entertainment system provide the finishing
touches to a fantastic flight.
