With
many low-priced flights to destinations throughout Europe and northern
Africa, Luxair is a popular airline, carrying around 1,184,613 passengers
in 2005.
Destinations served from the airline's hub in Luxembourg
Airport include Nice, Malaga, Marrakech, Copenhagen and Porto, with
many flights offering great value airfares.
Catering for
both business and leisure travellers, Luxair serves UK airports London
Heathrow, London City Airport and Manchester Airport.
Luxair
also has major agreements with Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Air France
and Alitalia allowing it to offer even more great airfares to exciting
destinations.
Earlier this year Luxair unveiled a new price
structure, with more low cost airfares, the option to choose from
a range of booking classes and new price categories for both outbound
and return flights.
The new price structure was first introduced
to individual direct flights to London, Porto and Rome before being
applied to Milan and Berlin.
Luxair also announced that
it would increase the availability of cheap airfares on many of its
summer flights. If you want the very cheapest airfares that Luxair
can offer, be sure to book through Major Travel.
It recently
introduced a high-performance in-flight entertainment system for its
economy class customers in its new next-generation Boeing aeroplanes.
Luxair passengers will be able to choose between eight audio programmes,
ranging from pop to classical, as well as video entertainment on overhead
screens to relax them during the flight.
Luxair business
class customers, meanwhile, have the additional benefit of dedicated
check-in counters, four-abreast seat configuration, improved in-flight
service and flexible airfares allowing changing or cancellation without
fees and no reservation restrictions.
Luxair is the national
airline of Luxembourg and was founded in the 1960s, initially operating
flights between its Luxembourg Airport base and Paris.
Luxair
operates its flights with a fleet comprising of 15 aircraft, including
three Boeing 737-700 aeroplanes, two Boeing 737-500 aircraft, eight
Embraer ERJ-145s and two Embraer ERJ-135s.
Luxair's new
50-seater Embraer ERJ-145s were ordered in 1998 and delivered between
1998 and 2002. They were bought to replace the company's previous
Fokker 50 and EMB-120 Brasilia aircraft on Luxair flights to destinations
such as Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Manchester and London and were dubbed
'Eurojets'.
"This name underlines the European character
of our company. The arrival of the Eurojet will allow us to expand
our route network with departure from Luxembourg Airport that will
develop into a hub for regional air traffic in Europe," explained
Luxair's CEO, talking about the new aeroplanes.
"In a Europe
united by a single currency, the Euro, the Eurojet will provide fast
and comfortable links to major European cities."
Luxair's
new aircraft will also mean greener flights, with a much lower level
of emissions than the levels specified by the International Civil
Aviation Organisation.
The airline plays an important part
in the economies of Luxembourg and neighbouring regions of Saar, Lorraine
and Rhineland-Palatine and had a turnover of €326 million in 2005. |
