Hertz
is a car rental firm based in the United States, with branches in
150 countries worldwide.
Although car rental is Hertz's
main business, the firm also rents equipment to industrial firms
as well as provide local rentals to people in the US whose cars
are out of service or are being repaired.
However, Hertz's
international car rental service remains its largest concern. It
all began in 1918, when Walter L Jacobs began renting Model T Fords
to members of the public.
Mr Jacobs sold the company to
John Hertz in 1923, who eventually renamed the service to Hertz
Drive-Ur-Self System. It introduced its first Fly/Drive programme
in the 1930s, easing air transport for passengers across the world.
Hertz became the Hertz Corporation in 1954, following another takeover
and its first public listing on the stock exchange. In the 1980s
it introduced its #1 Gold Club, easing the hassle of car rental
for premier customers. The service was extended into Europe in the
1990s.
Since then the company has introduced several innovations,
including its car navigation system NeverLost, a premium car service
offering models from Audi, Land Rover, Jaguar, Volvo and others,
Sirius Satellite Radio in its US fleet, Wi-Fi internet in its branches
and brand and model reservability.

business or for pleasure, can take advantage of the high powered
car from Hertz at the company's offices in LaGuardia and JFK airports

"Hertz is proud to lead the way in giving

summer and beyond," said Frank Camacho of Hertz.
