GB Airways is a low-cost airline offering hundreds of cheap flight deals to a variety of destinations around Europe.

The airline was established in 1931 as part of MH Bland, a Gibraltar shipping company, and was known as Gibraltar Airways. The airline formed a partnership with British European Airways during World War II and the airline, which later become known as British Airways, bought a stake in it.

As part of the franchise, which lasts until 2010, GB Airways is entitled to use British Airways aircraft, including the Airbus A320-200 and Airbus A321-200, complete with the same decor, and is also a member of the same alliance – oneworld.

Operating from London Gatwick Airport, this British Airways franchise flies to more than 30 destinations on the Continent and also provides some flights to North Africa.

The most popular destinations include Egypt's Sharm El Sheikh, Seville, Ibiza, Casablanca and Rhodes. Recent new additions to the airline's route network include the Greek destinations of Mykonos and Heraklion.

As well as flying out from Gatwick, there are also routes available from London Heathrow, Manchester, East Midlands and Bristol.

In the wake of the BA Connect takeover by low-cost airline Flybe, GB Airways said it would continue to operate flights between Manchester and Bristol under the BA Connect brand.

Also new is a daily service between Gibraltar and the Spanish capital Madrid, which is operated as a codeshare with Iberia.

When flying from any airport, GB Airways does its best to ensure customers have a no-hassle, stress-free journey. It utilises the British Airways check-in facility in which customers can check in online and use the self-service check-in facility at the airport – a kiosk from which you can choose the best available seats on the plane.

Once check-in has been completed, customers who have used any of these check-in services can make use of the fast bag drop service, which is available at most European airports.

And on board the plane, the service still continues, with passengers having the choice of flying as a Club Europe customer, or alternatively a Euro Traveller.

Those in Club Europe have the advantage of being able to take on more baggage and even a set of golf clubs if they so wish, in order to while away those days in whatever holiday destination they are flying to or as a form of relaxation during spare time on a business trip.

Euro Travellers can enjoy high quality in-flight service with a trained cabin crew to respond to your flight needs and ensure your journey is as comfortable as possible. To keep hunger at bay during the flight, passengers flying from London Gatwick and London Heathrow can enjoy the in-flight all-day deli, with a range of delicious meals and snacks.

The airline has also introduce an online booking system that allows passengers to pre-order Champagne, chocolates, hotel accommodation, car hire, airport parking and golf tee times.

Awards bestowed upon GB Airways include the Queen's Award for Enterprise in 2000.
