One
of the world's fastest growing international airlines, Delta
Airlines offers flights to 447 destinations in 96 countries
through its Delta, Delta Shuttle and
Delta Connection carriers and its worldwide
partners.
The airline has roots going back to 1924, with
the foundation of the world's first aerial crop dusting organisation,
offering its first passenger flights in 1929. In 1941, the company
moved its headquarters to Atlanta.
In summer 2006, Delta
Airlines says that it will be offering passengers more destinations
and departures between the US, Europe, India and Israel than any other
global airline and has added or announced 50 new international routes
in the past year.
Its hub airports include Atlanta, one
of the world's busiest airports, and John F Kennedy airport in New
York.
Delta Airlines offers
great value airfares on its flights, which also serve Mexico, South
and Central America and the Caribbean.
The airline is a
founding member of global airline alliance SkyTeam, which offers its
customers an extensive range of worldwide destinations, flights and
services.
Passengers have the opportunity of redeeming SkyMiles
on more than 14,000 flights offered by SkyTeam and Delta
Airlines' other partners, meaning those cheap airfares go even
further.
Delta Airlines often
runs special deals on its flights with great value airfares and for
the very best airfares that the company can offer, make sure you book
through Major Travel.
In
May, the airline became the world's largest airline flying between
the United States and Europe in terms of destinations served, seat
capacity and weekly flights, with extended services between Edinburgh
and New York among the new services.
"Since March we have
successfully launched 11 new routes across the Atlantic and have significantly
increased options for our customers to choose Delta
for travel to more global destinations than at any time in our history,"
said Glen Hauenstein, Delta Airline's
executive vice president of network planning and revenue management.
Delta Airlines operates flights to and
from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester, London and Southampton
airports in the United Kingdom.
Customers flying on Delta
Airlines' newest routes will be able to enjoy the comfort of a wide
body Boeing 767-300ER aircraft featuring Delta's
award-winning BusinessElite service.
The airline uses a
range of aircraft in its large fleet, including 32 737-200 aircraft,
121 757-200 aircraft and 71 737-800 aeroplanes.
Passengers
in all classes on long-haul Delta Airlines
flights can enjoy great movie and musical entertainment during their
flight as well as a range of television favourites and great food.
The airline also this year expanded its range of destinations in Latin
America, with new flights to Kingston in Jamaica, Aquadilla and Ponce
in Puerto Rico and Guayaquil and Quito in Equador.
