Spanish low-cost airline Air Europa operates both scheduled and charter flights covering a large part of Europe, as well as northern Africa, Asia and the Americas.

The airline serves a wide variety of exciting international destinations including Warsaw, Marrakech, Mexico and Shanghai from its base in Madrid's Barajas international Airport.

With a fleet of 32 next generation Boeing airplanes and one Airbus A340, the airline insists on the highest safety standards and operates only the best aircraft.

Air Europa Aircraft

Founded in 1986, Air Europa was initially called Air Espana and is still registered under that name in its home country, despite the fact that its planes tails now bear the distinctive interlocking a and e logo.

In 1993 the airline became the first private company in Spain to operate domestic flights and began challenging flag-bearer Iberia's monopoly in Spain.

At the same time the airline was proving itself as a leader in international air travel.

However in 1998, Air Europa signed a franchise agreement with its Spanish rival - although this was later dissolved.

In 2002, Air Europa began using 'wing-lets' technology in its Boeing 737-800 aircraft, an innovation which reduces both fuel consumption and pollution significantly.

Air Europa passengers travelling in any class have the opportunity to access VIP lounges for the price of a small upgrade.

The service offers extra comfort and calm, with free drinks and snacks available before the flight, as well as international newspapers, email, fax and TV.

When they have boarded their flight, all Air Europa customers can enjoy watching the latest blockbusters on video, or reading the in-flight magazine.

They are also offered a range of high quality meals varied enough to cater for any taste.

Air Europa's loyalty programme, Fidelitas, was launched in 2000 and now has over 130,000 members enjoying its benefits.

Cardholders can receive points which can be redeemed against flights or gifts just for taking a flight with Air Europa, or for using the products and services of partner companies.

Holders of an Air Europa Fidelitas card can also benefit from five kilos of free extra baggage allowance and priority on waiting lists, among other perks.

Air Europa has continued to grow in terms of fleet size and in terms of its international reputation, leading to the airline being invited to join the SkyTeam airline alliance in September 2007.

This prestigious alliance groups together many of the world's leading carriers from across four continents, including Air France, KLM and of course, Air Europa.

SkyTeam enables holders of the Fidelitas card to enjoy the benefits they have come to expect from Air Europa on any of the 14 member airline's flights.

Air Europa's stated aim is to establish new standards in customer service and convenience across all its flights to all its domestic and international destinations worldwide - an aim some might say it has already achieved.
